Our Surgical and Spine Care Outcomes Assessment Programs (COAPs) are holding a return to in-person Annual Meetings on Wednesday, September 13th from 8:00am to 4:45pm PT at the Conference Center at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. A virtual option will also be available for those unable to attend in-person.
See our agenda and register here: 2023 SCOAP and Spine COAP Annual Meeting
Surgical COAP brings together surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other clinicians as well as administrators to examine surgical outcomes in a CQIP-protected but internally transparent setting. Spine COAP convenes orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists, physiatrists, and other clinicians. In both communities we discuss opportunities for improvement at the site- and provider-level, and make collaborative decisions on what and how our state and region can improve.
We have had real and lasting impacts on improved patient care and safety at member sites by offering the opportunity to not only transparently see where they fall within the spectrum of peers and competitors, but also to bridge cross-institution collaboration on improvement strategies. Surgical COAP offers access to real-time reporting tools. Data is available for analyses immediately upon submission with no lag time for reports to be generated and distributed.
Both programs are actively working to reduce the data collection burden by reviewing current metrics for relevance, need, and data capture approach (e.g., automated and/or discreet fields vs manually abstracted). A systematic approach will be taken by each metric subgroup to review the varied metric sections (demographics, risk factors/comorbidities, pre-, peri- and postoperative aspects, population-specific variables, and both in-hospital and post-discharge events).
We hope to see you on September 13th!
